Nostalgia and reminisces seem to be a recurring trend at New York Fashion Week. Perhaps it is the fast pace of fashion and the ever increasing speed of how it is shared and relayed that designers are slowing down and taking stock of what it is that have inspired them in their careers and what has contributed to the grand scheme of their brand DNAs.

On an early Tuesday morning, Tory Burch looked back to her classic hits but spun and reworked them just so to make them look fresh and current. The tunic — one of the very first garments that she ever produced when she started her label — was shown today in elongated shapes and bold coloring including a hot pink number with gold embroidery that recalled Gloria Guinness.

Guinness and the rest of Truman Capote’s Swans (the swans on holiday in their second and third homes) in fact seemed to have informed much of the collection albeit with Burch’s vision of how they would evening dresses if they were alive today. There’s CZ Guest in the first look with a Kelly green cardigan draped over garden print separates worn with sneakers. There’s Babe Paley in the oversized floral print floor-length skirt paired with a bandeau top. And there’s Slim Keith in the bright orange eyelet ribbon tie skirt with a matching crop top.

Towards the end of the show, riotous prints from bohemian to folkloric adorned wispy dresses, jackets, peasant blouses and skirts.
