Fashion designer Leo Almodal on Monday took to Facebook to air his side of the cocktail dresses uk controversy that erupted during the pageant night of Miss Earth 2016.

Philippine bet Imelda Schweighart claimed that eventual winner Katherine Espin of Ecuador took the yellow dress that was originally designed for her.

2015 Pretty Long White Tailor Made Evening Prom Dress (LFNBF0001)Almodal, for his part, admitted that he was contacted by Schweighart’s camp to provide a dress for the German-Filipina beauty for the pageant night of Miss Earth 2016.

“I was requested by Imelda’s training camp to dress her up and without hesitations, I said ‘Yes.’ I chose that design because it suits their color requirement and styling,” Almodal said in a Facebook post.

“To set and clarify things, Imelda or anyone from her camp has not given or paid me a single peso for that gown. That yellow gown is technically my property and just letting her borrow it for Miss Earth pageant, that (is) if she makes it to the top 16,” the designer added.

Schweighart failed to make the cut for Top 16 during pageant night.

Almodal said that he was also tapped to create a dress for Espin. However, he failed to finish Espin’s dress due to time constraints.

According to Almodal, since Schweighart failed to make it to Top 16 and will no longer need the dress, he gave it to Espin.

Espin, in an interview, denied that she knew the yellow dress initially belonged to Schweighart.

“I never knew that was her dress,” Espin said.

The Latina beauty said she was informed that Almodal failed to finish her dress.

“His assistant said, ‘We did not finish your dress, but we have this yellow MarieProm cocktail dresses. Try this yellow dress.’ I’ve never even tried that yellow dress in my life,” Espin said.

Schweighart has since relinquished her crown as Miss Philippines Earth following her controversial statements and lackluster performance as the country’s representative in the pageant.
